[Internetterror] De Internet Terreur

I’m done with it – those social media that determine the pace of your life – it’s a world that doesn’t make me happy. I am trying to get rid of the addiction of looking at how the world presents itself on the basis of a selection of messages that, when I try to understand it, do not provide me with any added value.

How can I escape the straitjacket, the bubble, the criteria that determine what I can or cannot see, that fool me, that are sometimes not true at all, that seduce me into reactions that I am just as quick to regret

I noticed how quick I reacted irritated to certain topics or certain authors. How can I apologize to the people I have offended or hurt; in this virtual unreal world of people who have been influenced by these media.

How social are my reactions? Are they just there to seduce people to confirm like-minded people in their on-line existence? It is as good as meaningless, all that stuff about influencing, likes, followers, … There is nothing that guarantees that you are kept informed of what your family, friends, like-minded souls are doing, not doing, saying, feeling, … It’s all controlled by algorithms that have been put together by nerds to walk in line to the rhythm of the clapping whip of commerce.

Is it free choice or free speech? Is it about democracy, disguised capitalism, influence? Do you really believe that ‘the great leaders’ have the best interests of ‘the small person’ at heart? That Besos, Zuckerberg, Musk and other moguls try to harvest our attention, or try to stoke it like a fire in such a way that in the end you are only left with scorched earth, on which nothing like social engagement can grow or flower?

In this way, the principle of free speech is completely compromised, it becomes the guided formation of opinion that hinders conversation, exchanges … and makes it impossible. No one can muster the patience to get closer to each other by listening to the ‘other party’. We anticipate, interrupt, try to convince the other of ‘our’ great self righteous, … and proceed with disdain for their opinion

What remains of an in-depth discussion where you don’t try to score points yourself? Where can you be yourself? The adjusted versions of role-models who try to make you feel inferior and are confronting you at every occasion so that they are completely in the light and no shadow can fall over their idealistic image.

Yes, I participated in this competition, but I’m completely tired of social internet terrorism and try to find something useful to spend the freed-up time that I no longer spend on 20 or 30 second stories, reels or other forms of publication. Can I return to what I love to do; therapeutic writing to address the injustice and not be afraid of the dangers of the terror.

No, they don’t want you to think. Thinking through or plain thinking in its most primitive form, is discouraged, all you have to do is follow. Above all, don’t resist the call (or the echo of it) to think for yourself and come to your own conclusions. There is nothing to harvest for social media there.

You don’t even dare to share or defend your points of view anymore, you become afraid to react, not because you don’t have a valid opinion, but because your fears have limited your life to silently submitting to the tyranny of the culture of fear – afraid that a reaction will lead to trolling, bullying, and other forms of internet terrorism.
